What are the 5 things AI cannot do?

AI cannot feel empathy, take responsibility, reason well in novel situations with no data, set strategy or values, or be held legally accountable for outcomes.

One: genuine empathy and lived experience. AI can simulate the language of care, but it has no stake in the outcome. That matters for leadership, therapy, sensitive conversations, and anywhere trust is the core product.

Two: accountability. AI systems do not take legal, ethical, or professional responsibility. Humans do. This is why regulated industries (health, law, finance) move more slowly with AI, and should.

Three: reasoning in data-sparse or novel situations. AI predicts patterns from training data. When the situation is genuinely new, its confidence often outruns its competence.

Four: defining strategy, values, or culture. That direction has to come from people. AI can execute on a strategy, but it cannot decide what you stand for.

Five: guaranteed truth. Even the best models produce confident-sounding errors. Human oversight on anything important is not optional.
