One to four weeks, depending on scope. A Quick Check takes about a week: one workflow or one question, a short written set of findings, and a recommendation. A Readiness Assessment takes two weeks. A Strategic Assessment for larger, cross-functional teams takes three to four weeks because we are talking to more people and mapping more workflows. The first call is always free and we use it to scope the timeline honestly.
Most businesses should start here. The point of an AI assessment is to figure out where AI fits before you commit to a build. We audit your workflows, name the highest-leverage first move, and hand you a written plan. You decide what to act on next, and whether to do it yourselves or with us. If you have already identified the specific problem, you can skip the assessment and we will scope a build directly from the first call.
No. Many small teams asking about an assessment have never paid for an AI tool. The point of an AI readiness assessment is to figure out where AI should go before you start spending. If you do have tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, custom GPTs), we audit how they are being used and whether they are earning their seats.
Mostly semantics, but here is how we use them. An AI audit looks at what you already have: tools, usage, governance, and tells you what is working. An AI assessment is forward-looking. It looks at workflows where AI could deliver value and ranks them by impact, effort, and ROI. The Readiness and Strategic Assessments include both, because most businesses need both.
Three options. First, take the roadmap and run it yourselves. We leave you self-sufficient. Second, engage us for a specific build from the prioritized list (automation builds start at $1,500 for a single task, and most workflow builds start from $3,500 and take two to eight weeks). Third, bring us on as a fractional AI lead across multiple builds, on retainer. There is no obligation to keep working with us. The roadmap is yours either way.
Team training may qualify for the B.C. Employer Training Grant, which reimburses up to 80% of eligible training costs, and R&D-heavy builds may qualify for NRC IRAP or SR&ED. We can flag the programs that might fit your scope; final eligibility is determined by the program itself. We do not write the application. Bring it up on the discovery call and we will tell you which programs might apply.
