Claude Team vs Enterprise: Plans, Pricing, and Which One Your Business Needs

Claude Team vs Enterprise comes down to three questions: how many people need access, how much control your IT and compliance people need, and whether you want a flat price per seat or a seat fee plus metered usage. Both plans include Claude Code, keep your content out of model training by default, and give you central billing. The differences are in scale, security controls, and how you pay.

This guide compares the Claude Team plan and Claude Enterprise as of October 10, 2026, using Anthropic's own pricing page and help centre. Prices are in US dollars and exclude tax. Anthropic changes its plans often, so confirm before you buy. If you want the numbers in Canadian dollars, see our breakdown of Claude pricing in Canada.

Key Takeaway

The short answer: Claude Team suits most organizations of 2 to 150 people that want predictable per-seat pricing. Claude Enterprise suits organizations that need SCIM, audit logs, a Compliance API, or custom data retention, or that will grow past 150 seats, and that are comfortable paying for usage on top of seats.

The Claude Team plan: what you get

The Claude Team plan is Anthropic's self-serve plan for organizations, from 2 to 150 seats. There are two seat types, and you can mix them on one account:

  • Standard seat: US$20 per member per month billed annually, or US$25 billed monthly. Anthropic describes it as more usage than the individual Pro plan.
  • Premium seat: US$100 per member per month billed annually, or US$125 billed monthly, with five times the usage of a standard seat.

Every seat includes Claude Code and Cowork, Anthropic's desktop tool for handing off multi-step tasks. Admins get central billing, single sign-on, usage analytics, enterprise search across connected tools, and controls over which connectors people can use. Model training on your content is off by default. When someone hits their usage limit, the organization can buy extra usage instead of upgrading everyone.

Anthropic lowered Team prices in January 2026 and added annual pricing for premium seats, which is why the Team plan is now the natural starting point for most small and mid-sized organizations.

What Team does not include: SCIM provisioning, audit logs, the Compliance API, custom data retention, and network-level controls such as IP allowlisting. It is also paid by credit card only, with no invoicing.

Claude Enterprise: what you get and how pricing works

Claude Enterprise pricing works differently from Team. Instead of flat seats with usage included, new Enterprise plans charge for two things:

  • A seat fee: US$20 per seat per month, billed annually. The seat gives each person Claude on web, desktop, and mobile, plus Claude Code and Cowork, but it includes no usage.
  • Usage at API rates: billed on the tokens your organization actually uses, so cost depends on which models and tasks your people run. Self-serve plans buy usage up front as credits; sales-assisted plans are billed monthly in arrears.

Admins can set spend limits for the whole organization and for each person. When a limit is reached, that person's usage stops until the limit is raised or the billing period resets, so a budget is a real cap, not an estimate.

There are two ways to buy. Self-serve Enterprise needs at least 20 seats, is paid by card or ACH, and is billed in US dollars only. Sales-assisted Enterprise needs at least 50 seats and adds invoicing and other currencies. Older Enterprise contracts with Standard and Premium seats move to the seat-plus-usage model at renewal.

On top of everything in Team, Enterprise adds the controls security and compliance teams ask for: SCIM provisioning, audit logs, a Compliance API, custom data retention controls, role-based access, IP allowlisting, and a HIPAA-ready offering. The help centre also lists customer-managed encryption keys and a US-only inference option, which is billed at 1.1 times standard API rates on newer models.

Claude Team pricing vs Claude Enterprise pricing: a worked example

Take a 20-person organization paying annually. On Team, 20 standard seats cost US$400 a month, or US$4,800 a year, and that number does not move. On self-serve Enterprise, the 20 seats also cost US$400 a month, but every conversation, document review, and Claude Code session is billed on top at API rates.

So for the same headcount, Enterprise costs more than Team standard seats as soon as anyone uses it. What you are paying for is the control layer, and usage that scales with real demand instead of per-seat limits. For a team where a few developers run Claude Code all day and everyone else uses it lightly, metered usage with per-person spend limits can be easier to manage than buying premium seats. For a team with steady, moderate use, Team's flat price is simpler to budget.

Nobody can honestly tell you what your Enterprise usage bill will be before a pilot. It depends on the models people choose, how long their documents are, and how much agentic work they hand off. Run a pilot with spend limits, measure for a month, then decide.

Who each plan fits

By team size

  • Under 20 people: Team. Self-serve Enterprise starts at 20 seats.
  • 20 to 150 people: either. Choose Team unless you need Enterprise's security controls.
  • More than 150 people: Enterprise. Team tops out at 150 seats.

By security and admin needs

If your IT team provisions accounts through an identity provider with SCIM, needs audit logs for investigations, or has a records policy that requires custom retention, you need Enterprise. If single sign-on and central administration are enough, Team covers it. Organizations handling regulated data, such as health information, should talk to Anthropic's sales team and their own privacy counsel before choosing.

By Claude Code use

Both plans include Claude Code. On Team, heavy users usually need premium seats, at US$100 a month each billed annually. On Enterprise, developers draw on metered usage, and spend limits let you cap each person. If you have a handful of heavy coders and many light users, model both options before you commit.

How to roll out either plan

  1. 1Map the work first. List the tasks each role would use Claude for, and which data those tasks touch.
  2. 2Write a usage guideline. Cover what data can go in, how outputs get reviewed, and who owns the account. Have a lawyer review anything involving regulated data.
  3. 3Start with a pilot group. Pick five to fifteen people across a few roles. On Team, use monthly billing so you are not locked into seat counts you have not tested.
  4. 4Set up access properly. Configure single sign-on and connector permissions, and on Enterprise, SCIM and spend limits, before people start.
  5. 5Train on real tasks. Role-specific sessions using your own documents tend to stick far better than generic prompt tips.
  6. 6Measure, then scale. Track who uses it, for what, and what it saves, then move to annual billing once seat counts settle.
